Vela is an extensible platform for building web publishing applications. Built using industry standard technologies like AJAX, Vela is stable, secure, and scalable. Specifically, Vela provides an end-to-end solution from data collection and entry all the way through to producing attractive, press ready documents.

Vela allows the rapid construction of bespoke web sites that enable data entry, formatting, and image uploading. Vela can be customised to follow your own corporate style guidelines, not only for the finished document, but for the website design too.  

DataActive built the Vela platform to complete the process chain between the user and the finished publication. XML is created automatically, and processed by our own proven FS rendering engine to create PDFs and other media. No user programming, scripting, or special formatting is required. Simply fill in the areas on the website, and press the 'Create' button. A few seconds later a PDF will be delivered directly to your desktop for viewing on your screen, or for sending to print.

Vela uses the mature FS document creation platform, which has created hundreds of thousands of documents over several years for several major investment and asset management companies.

Typically, the process of adopting Vela would be:

• DataActive would produce a pilot/mockup of one of your existing or proposed documents
• DataActive would collaborate with you to design an easy to use web interface, with correct fields for data entry, to fit in with your existing workflow and data sources
• DataActive implements the web interface and you will be invited to use it and provide feedback before going "live"

Vela can create documents in virtually any language (translations being provided by yourselves), including Eastern European languages such as Polish or Hungarian and Asian languages including Simplified Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

Vela can be completely customized to your requirements, both structurally and cosmetically, and construction of your Vela site for a fairly simple job can be as little as a few days.

DataActive can run your Vela system on your behalf on our own Sun Solaris systems, or it may be possible for you to run Vela internally on your own hardware (you would need to check with us for compatibility and terms). We would of course provide telephone and e-mail support for Vela and with DataActive hosting your Vela system, all you need is a web browser to start creating your professional business documents.
