Solution

Our client was trained to use XML for their data feeds in the way that our rendering engine was constructed to recognise that data. XML is fed per fund/language required for the main factsheet run. Separate control files are sent for the construction of the books and PowerPoint presentations. All data is delivered by FTP. Automated emails are sent on receipt of the files and on completion of the rendered factsheets and factbooks. The rendered publications are in PDF format (internet and press versions for the factsheet work) and in an editable format for the PowerPoint presentations.

The files are viewed on a dedicated website (FileTracker) and downloaded as required. All corrections are made by rectifying the XML feed files and repeating the process. Old PDFs are superseded by the new ones and in turn, the old ones are archived for future comparison or reference purposes. Each factsheet is produced in less than a second and books are constructed in around 15 minutes each as there is some necessary manual intervention. Data for the Assurance factsheets is supplied in Excel format and an Excel to XML converter (written by DataActive) is used during the process of producing the output files, using our automated rendering solution.
